Baseball Recap: Limestone Gets the Win

While Limestone's win against Pekin wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rockets had just enough and edged out the Dragons 2-1. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Hunter Long spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 14 Ks. Limestone is 3-1 when Long allows two or fewer hits, but 11-12 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cooper Clark, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Limestone's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 11-13 when he doesn't).

Limestone's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-10 and their overall record up to 14-13. As for Pekin, their loss dropped their record down to 5-19.

Limestone will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Dragons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
