Basketball Recap: Verndale Takes a Loss

Verndale lost against Nevis back in January of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Verndale Pirates came up short against the Nevis Tigers, falling 91-71. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (69), the Pirates still had to take the loss.

Verndale has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points over those games. As for Nevis, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-3.

Looking ahead, Verndale will square off against Bertha-Hewitt at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nevis, they will challenge Blackduck at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
