The Mt. Gilead Indians will square off against the Elgin Comets at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mt. Gilead is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Mt. Gilead managed to slip by Centerburg the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Indians lost 7-1 to the Trojans on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Elgin had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Hardin Northern 14-2 on Tuesday. The Comets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Colton Ware, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and three doubles. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Zempter, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Elgin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Elgin now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Mt. Gilead, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mt. Gilead has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Elgin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
