Football Recap: Brewster Bears vs. Nyack Red Hawks

Brewster won the last time they faced Nyack and things went their way on Friday too. The Bears took down the Red Hawks 34-20. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Red Hawks are ranked 262nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chase Prohaszka had a dynamite game, rushing for 203 yards and three scores while picking up 8.5 yards per carry, and also throwing for 77 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Those 203 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Brewster was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 248 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nyack only rushed for 125 rushing yards.

Brewster and Nyack will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Bears will challenge rival Mahopac at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Nyack is set to face off against their familiar foe Clarkstown North at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
