Football Recap: Brewster's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Friday

Brewster won the last time they faced Nyack and things went their way on Friday too. The Bears took down the Red Hawks 34-20. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Red Hawks are ranked 262nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chase Prohaszka had a dynamite game, rushing for 203 yards and three scores while picking up 8.5 yards per carry, and also throwing for 77 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Those 203 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Brewster was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 248 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nyack only rushed for 125 rushing yards.

Abdul Durosinmi and Devin Bierfeldt certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Durosinmi gained 186 total yards and two touchdowns, while Bierfeldt threw for 176 yards and a pair of TDs.

Brewster has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 26 points this season. As for Nyack, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Brewster and Nyack will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Bears will challenge rival Mahopac at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Nyack is set to face off against their familiar foe Clarkstown North at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
