Football Recap: Hammond Central Comes Up Short

Hammond Central extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7. They took a blow against the Hammond Morton Governors, falling 76-0. The Wolves lost against the Governors in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 42-14 score last time.

Jackquell Jackson threw for 65 yards on four of 19 attempts. Jayden Gee was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards. On the ground, Amonte Smith rushed for 33 yards.

As for Hammond Morton, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The result was nothing new for the Governors, who have now won five games by 22 points or more so far this season.

Hammond Morton found their leader in freshman Amari Price, who threw for 190 yards and three TDs while completing 80% of his passes.

Hammond Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 22-12 loss against East Chicago Central on the 10th. As for Hammond Morton, they have also already played their next matchup, a 29-18 defeat against Hobart on the 10th.
