Volleyball Recap: Mt. Zion's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

After losing to Ottawa the last time they met, Mt. Zion decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Braves came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 2-0 on Saturday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Braves as it put an end to their three-match losing streak.

Their offense was headlined by Avelyn Ethell and Gabby Wisher, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Kendall Smith and her seven assists. Finally, Wisher was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high five blocks.

Mt. Zion's win bumped their record up to 17-14. As for Ottawa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-18-2 record this season.

Mt. Zion has already played their next matchup (against Taylorville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Ottawa, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against Morris on the 14th.
