Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Cheyenne Wells

Cheyenne Wells put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Springfield Longhorns 11-5. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Bryson Hyle made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only one hit. Hyle was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Trey Scheler and Mason Marriott did most of the damage at the plate: Scheler scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while Marriott scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Scheler a new career-high. Marcus Bogenhagen was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Cheyenne Wells was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Springfield only posted a batting average of .235.

Cheyenne Wells' victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Springfield, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Springfield beat Cheyenne Wells by a score of 9-4 later that day.
