Basketball Recap: Mourning Piles Up the Points Against MAST Academy

The third road game was the charm for Mourning, as they earned their first road win of the season. They blew past the MAST Academy Makos 68-40 on Thursday. For the Sharks, this counts as revenge for the 54-52 win the Makos walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mourning to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ronald Deprafine, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 16 points in addition to six steals and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Omari Meda, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Mourning was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Mourning's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for MAST Academy, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Mourning will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Coral Park at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. MAST Academy will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against Schoolhouse Prep at 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
