Baseball Game Preview: Amundsen Vikings vs. Kennedy Crusaders

The Amundsen Vikings will venture away from home to take on the Kennedy Crusaders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Amundsen can't be to happy about their upcoming road contest considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Tuesday. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Saint Ignatius College Prep. The Vikings have struggled against the Wolfpack recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Noah Gaietto was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Luca Marsh was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Kennedy and Evergreen Park, and Evergreen Park kept the tradition alive. Kennedy came up short against Evergreen Park on Friday, falling 19-3. The loss put an end to the Crusaders' undefeated start to the season.

Amundsen couldn't quite finish off Kennedy when the teams last played back in March of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can Amundsen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
