Softball Recap: New Plymouth Pilgrims vs. Marsing Huskies
New Plymouth never got on the board in their matchup last Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Marsing on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Huskies by a score of 13-8. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Pilgrims' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Makiah Weideman was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Adrianna Hartzell was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kadence Withers, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
New Plymouth's record now sits at 10-4. As for Marsing, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.
Coming up, New Plymouth will head out to face off against Fruitland at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Grizzlies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.64 runs per game on average), something the Pilgrims will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Marsing, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-6 victory against Melba on the 11th.
