Senior guard Ryan Boatright exploded for 55 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals to spark East (Aurora, Ill.) to a 75-66 victory over North (Saint Charles, Ill.) on Friday at the Saint Charles East Basketball Tournament.

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound senior made 22 of 36 from the field and either scored or assisted on 25 of the Tomcats' 29 baskets.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that at the end of the game, East Aurora coach Wendell Jeffries was shouting at Boatright to shoot, but he held the ball as time ran out. Jeffries revealed after the game that his young superstar was just one point short of the 1970 school record set by All-American Tom Kivisto.

Boatright, rated the nation's 38th top recruit from the Class of 2011 by MaxPreps basketball editor Jason Hickman, is signed to Connecticut.

* Winter Park (Fla.) senior guard Austin Rivers opened the regular season with an outstanding 46-point effort during a 102-92 victory over Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) in a matchup of nationally-ranked teams.
Rivers, the No. 2 recruit in the country who is headed to Duke, also went over the 2,000-point mark for his career.
