Basketball Recap: Warner Wildcats vs. Borrego Springs Rams
In what's become a running theme this season, the Warner Wildcats gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They blew past Borrego Springs 49-24. 49 seems to be a good number for Warner as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Warner was led to victory by Angel Carachure and Anthony Porras. Carachure scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Porras scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Porras is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last five games he's played. Omar Acosta was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Borrego Springs still got an impressive performance from Brody White, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 20 rebounds. That was a full 62.5% of Borrego Springs' points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Warner's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-11. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.4 points per game. As for Borrego Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Warner will take on the RoadRunners at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Calexico Mission is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for Borrego Springs, they will head out on the road to challenge the Dragons at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
