Basketball Game Preview: Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds vs. Manhattan Indians

The Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds will take on the Manhattan Indians in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Tuesday, Shawnee Heights was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 72-68 to Piper. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (61), the Thunderbirds still had to take the loss.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Cam Ross, who shot 57% from the field on his way to 20 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaimarion Cook, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 12 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Manhattan waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Demons as they made off with a 76-54 victory. The Indians' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Manhattan's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Shawnee Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Shawnee Heights came up short against Manhattan in their previous meeting back in January of 2021, falling 62-55. Can the Thunderbirds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
