Softball Recap: Heritage Hawks vs. Windsor Academy Knights        
        
		
             Heritage came tearing into  Tuesday's  match with five straight wins  (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs) and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Windsor Academy Knights  a   9-0 shutout. Considering the Hawks have won five contests by more than seven  runs this season, Tuesday's  blowout was nothing new.
  Amelia Thornton was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she  didn't allow a single  earned run and  only one  hit while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs while going 1-for-5.
 In other batting news, Heritage let  Paige Holcombe and  Abby Dunlap loose on the outfield. Holcombe  went 3-for-5 with three  runs, a  triple, and a  double, while  Dunlap  went 3-for-3 with four  RBI, a  run, and a  double. That  triple marked the first that  Holcombe's  hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of  Baylie Arrington, who  scored a  run while  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances.
 Heritage  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with 13  strikeouts. That's the most  strikeouts they've posted since  back in September of 2023.
 Heritage's victory was  their third straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 6-1. As for Windsor Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
 Heritage will have a chance to go back-to-back against Windsor Academy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
