Football Recap: Morenci Wildcats vs. Safford Bulldogs
Morenci was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They and the Safford Bulldogs were almost perfectly matched up, but the Morenci Wildcats suffered a 13-12 defeat. Despite 110 more yards than the Bulldogs, the Wildcats couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Despite the loss, Morenci still got an impressive performance from Julian Aragon, who rushed for 209 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.0 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Aragon is now averaging an impressive 116.7 rushing yards per game.
Even though they lost, Morenci was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 282 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 158 rushing yards in eight consecutive matches dating back to last season.
