Kennedy came tearing into Wednesday's match with 18 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 72-68 victory over the Katella Knights. Given the Fighting Irish's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while the Knights are ranked 712th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joseph Damian, who went 10 of 23 on his way to 25 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Damian a new career-high in points. Dillon Curtis was another key player, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Kennedy's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-4. As for Katella, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season.

Kennedy will head out to challenge Garden Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Katella, they will be playing at home against Segerstrom at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
