Soccer Game Preview: Smithville vs. Salado

The Smithville Tigers will head out to square off against the Salado Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Smithville has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while Salado will arrive with 12 straight wins.

Monday just wasn't the day for Smithville's offense. They came up short against C.H. Yoe on Monday, falling 3-0.

Meanwhile, Salado kept a clean sheet against Rockdale on Friday. They blew past the Tigers 8-0. Considering the Eagles have won 13 matches by more than three goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Salado pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those six contests. As for Smithville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.

Smithville suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Salado in their previous matchup back in January. Can Smithville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
