Softball Recap: Sharon Tigers vs. Hickory Hornets

Sharon entered their tilt with Hickory on Friday with nine consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with ten. They came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 6-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 1-0 back in April.

Madelyn Vogan made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Marley Bundrant was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Claire Bodien was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Sharon lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Sharon's win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1. As for Hickory, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
