Baseball Recap: Pennington Find Success

Pennington hadn't done well against Southeastern recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Pennington Tigers came out on top against the Southeastern Mustangs by a score of 8-4. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly four runs.

Jesse Amos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Connor Timmerman was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-4. Timmerman is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stole at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Eli Butler also deserves some recognition as he stole his first stolen bases of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Pennington and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs over those games. As for Southeastern, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pennington will host Brewer at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southeastern, they will challenge Hayden at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
