Basketball Game Preview: Stringer Red Devils vs. Sylva Bay Academy Saints

Stringer and Sylva Bay Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Stringer Red Devils will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Sylva Bay Academy Saints at 7:30 p.m. Stringer will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Stringer beat Puckett 51-38.

Meanwhile, Sylva Bay Academy didn't have too much trouble with Prentiss Christian on Friday as they won 51-35. Sylva Bay Academy pushed the score to 46-24 by the end of the third, a deficit Prentiss Christian cut but never quite recovered from.

Stringer better keep an eye on Brody Boyd. He was instrumental in Sylva Bay Academy's win, going 12 of 20 on his way to 27 points and five steals. That's the most steals Boyd has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Timothy Moss, who posted ten points and six rebounds.

The win got Stringer back to even at 6-6. As for Sylva Bay Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Stringer, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-42 loss to Sylva Bay Academy in their previous meeting back in November. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Boyd, who went 9 of 15 on his way to 21 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.
