Softball Recap: Chicago Christian Comes Up Short

Chicago Christian had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 1-16 to make it 12. They lost 27-0 to the Bishop McNamara Fightin' Irish. Considering the last time the Knights couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

As for Bishop McNamara, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13 runs.

For Bishop McNamara's part, Victoria Torres made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. Torres has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Teagan McCue was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. Another player making a difference was Analeah Ramirez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.

While Chicago Christian had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
