Basketball Recap: Nottoway Comes Up Short

Nottoway had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 0-2 to make it five. They took a blow against the Colonial Heights Colonials, falling 67-22. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-11.

Despite the defeat, Nottoway saw an underclassman step up: freshman Alexandra Shelton posted seven points. Cambria Ashford was another key player, putting up five points and seven rebounds.

As for Colonial Heights, their win bumped their record up to 1-0. They haven't had any issues with Nottoway recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Colonial Heights' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dajia Logan, who had 18 points in addition to five boards and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of London Wilbert, who scored 17 points and six steals.

Nottoway has already played their next matchup (against Cumberland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Colonial Heights, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-38 loss against Petersburg on the 11th.
