Softball Game Preview: Vincent Yellow Jackets vs. Childersburg Tigers

The Vincent Yellow Jackets will head out on the road to take on the Childersburg Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Vincent has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Vincent is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since May 8, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against Shelby County, falling 15-5.

Vincent saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaci Wallace, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another was McKenzie Fields, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Childersburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 15-1 to Lincoln.

Childersburg's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Vincent, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Vincent has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Childersburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Vincent couldn't quite finish off Childersburg when the teams last played back in February and fell 9-7. Can Vincent avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
