Football Game Preview: Northbrook Raiders vs. Cypress Falls Eagles + How To Watch

Northbrook is 0-3 against Cypress Falls since September of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Raiders will venture away from home to take on the Eagles at 6:30 p.m.

Northbrook is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Stratford on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Raiders were dealt a 48-12 loss at the hands of the Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1074th, while the Spartans are ranked 364th).

Meanwhile, Cypress Falls can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They claimed a resounding 63-31 victory over Cypress Creek. With the Eagles ahead 49-17 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Northbrook better keep an eye on Deron Simpson. He was instrumental in Cypress Falls' win, rushing for 181 yards and two TDs on only seven carries, while also picking up 35 receiving yards and one touchdown. Simpson has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Wilson, who rushed for 78 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Cypress Falls, racking up 21 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Andre Lewis, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Cypress Falls' defensive line and their eight sacks. Albert Allen was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Liam Madkins got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Northbrook's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Cypress Falls, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Northbrook took a serious blow against Cypress Falls in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 38-0. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
