Baseball Recap: Belen Jesuit Takes a Loss

Belen Jesuit was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Dade Buccaneers. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buccaneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Frankie Aleman was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He also tossed three walks, marking his first of the season.

On the hitting side, Belen Jesuit saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Del Pino, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Jace Garcia was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Belen Jesuit's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for South Dade, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Belen Jesuit didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-4 victory against Coral Park on the 9th. As for South Dade, they have also already played their next match, a 12-6 win against Downtown Doral on the 9th.
