Softball Game Preview: Strawberry Crest Chargers vs. Newsome Wolves

Strawberry Crest hasn't had much luck against Newsome recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Chargers will head out to take on the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. Strawberry Crest knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Newsome likes a good challenge.

Last Wednesday, Strawberry Crest beat Gaither 11-8.

Lola Coole and Kennedy Shea did most of the damage at the plate: Coole scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Shea went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Shea has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Ava Cater was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, after a string of 12 wins, Newsome's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They came up short against East Lake, falling 9-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wolves have suffered since February 22, 2024.

Newsome saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amaya Nunez, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Newsome's loss dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Strawberry Crest, their victory bumped their record up to 7-9.
