Basketball Game Preview: Woodward Academy War Eagles vs. Lakeside Vikings

The Woodward Academy War Eagles will take on the Lakeside Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Lakeside will be up against a hot Woodward Academy team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Woodward Academy took their match on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 72-13 victory over Chamblee. With the War Eagles ahead 42-5 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Woodward Academy can attribute much of their success to Z Williams, who went 10 for 13 en route to 23 points and three steals, and Lauryn Dennis-Cooper, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards. Dennis-Cooper is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Delaney Cooper was another key player, putting up five points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

Woodward Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 33 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Lakeside didn't have too much trouble with Shiloh on Tuesday as they won 58-44.

Lakeside is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Woodward Academy, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.
