Football Game Preview: Hoover Tornados vs. Muir Mustangs + Official Tickets

Hoover is 0-3 against Muir since October of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Tornados will welcome the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. Hoover has given up an average of 35.1 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hoover's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Burbank on Friday. They were outmatched by the Bulldogs and fell 69-0. While losing is never fun, the Tornados can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 843rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 223rd).

Meanwhile, Muir waltzed into their game on Friday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They really took it to the Bears for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-0 victory. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Mustangs had established a 49-point advantage.

Hoover better keep an eye on Trey Gamble. He was instrumental in Muir's win, throwing for 264 yards and four TDs while completing 84.6% of his passes. Gamble is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last five games he's played.

One reason for the win was Muir's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. In that department, James Taylor was the leader with two. Muir got some further help from Jason Brown: he picked up 1.5 sacks, made nine total tackles, and defended one pass.

Muir's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Hoover, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
