Basketball Game Preview: Lorena Leopards vs. Connally Cadets

Lorena and Connally are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Lorena Leopards will head out on the road to challenge the Connally Cadets at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Lorena earned a 53-42 victory over Gatesville. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Leopards.

Meanwhile, Connally had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 62-54 win over the Rockets. Given the Cadets' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 436th, while the Rockets are ranked 1028th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Connally is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Lorena, they now have a winning record of 15-14.

Lorena barely slipped by Connally when the teams last played on January 10th, winning 54-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lorena since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
