Softball Recap: South Greene Takes a Loss

South Greene entered their match against North Greene on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Rebels came up short against the Huskies, falling 9-2. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, the Rebels couldn't push the score so high this time.

Kortnei Bailey put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Bailey was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

South Greene's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for North Greene, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Greene will challenge Hampton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rebels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for North Greene, they will venture away from home to challenge Chuckey-Doak at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Black Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.82 runs per game on average), something the Huskies will no doubt try to take advantage of.
