Eric Sondheimer of Los Angeles Times reports scheduling development Thursday via Twitter.

Two of the west's top high school football programs will meet Sept. 8 when Centennial (Corona, Calif.) plays at Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nev.). Eric Sondheimer of the Los Angeles Times reported the matchup Thursday via Twitter.
Bishop Gorman captured Nevada's Class 5A state title last fall, finishing 14-1 and No. 4 nationally in the MaxPreps Top 25. The Gaels have won 19 state crowns in program history with 13 of those coming since 2007. The Las Vegas powerhouse to be back in the mix once again in 2023 behind All-American quarterback Micah Alejado.

Coming off a 9-2 campaign, Centennial is a perennial contender in California's Southern Section. The Huskies have made three appearances in the CIF Open Division state championship game over the past decade. Running back Cornell Hatcher Jr. and transfer quarterback Husan Longstreet are expected to be two of the names to watch for longtime head coach Matt Logan's team.

The two programs last met in 2014 when Bishop Gorman escaped with a wild 43-42 win en route to an unbeaten season and No. 2 national ranking.
