The Clinton-Massie Falcons will venture away from home to face off against the Goshen Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Clinton-Massie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Clinton-Massie took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Fairfield, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Falcons had just enough and edged out the Lions 14-13 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted since May 1, 2024.

Ava Crombie made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Kalli Jodrey was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Izzy Penewit was another key player, going 1-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Goshen made sure to put some runs up on the board against Fairmont on Thursday. The Warriors walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Firebirds.
Like Clinton-Massie, Goshen also got a great game from a two-way player: Skye Shaw. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, Shaw is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Macee Stelle, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Makayla Campbell, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Goshen's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Clinton-Massie, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Clinton-Massie has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Goshen struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Clinton-Massie came up short against Goshen in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 10-7. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
