Soccer Recap: Northumberland Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Northumberland was not quite Westmoreland's equal in the second half on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1. Northumberland were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Westmoreland apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Northumberland's goal came courtesy of Emma Kimball, which was the first she's scored this season.

Northumberland dropped their record down to 0-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Westmoreland, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Looking ahead, Westmoreland will look to defend their home pitch on Friday against Richmond High School for the Arts at 6:00 p.m. Northumberland will be paying especially close attention to the Eagles' match: after the Eagles face off against the Bulldogs, they'll take on Northumberland again at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
