Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Landon Christensen and Talan Speir Lead Benjamin Franklin to Victory

Benjamin Franklin won the last time they faced Northwest Christian and things went their way on Monday too. The Benjamin Franklin Chargers enjoyed a cozy 48-30 win over the Northwest Christian Crusaders. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Crusaders are ranked 174th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Benjamin Franklin was led to victory by Talan Speir and Landon Christensen. Speir went 6 for 9 en route to 12 points along with six steals and five assists, while Christensen dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. That's the most steals Speir has posted since back in December of 2024. Tyler Pluid was another key player, putting up four points.

Benjamin Franklin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in four consecutive matches.

Benjamin Franklin's victory bumped their record up to 20-2. As for Northwest Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Benjamin Franklin will challenge Bourgade Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northwest Christian, they will take on San Tan Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
