Basketball Recap: IMG Academy Blue Takes a Loss

IMG Academy Blue lost against Venice back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The IMG Academy Blue Ascenders fell 61-51 to the Venice Indians. While losing is never fun, the Ascenders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 330th, while the Indians are ranked 45th).

It was another big night for Zoe O'Leary, who went 11 for 16 on her way to 30 points in addition to seven boards and five steals for Venice. O'Leary is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last 14 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tessa Oleary, who went 6 of 15 en route to 15 points along with six assists and five rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for IMG Academy Blue and nudges their season record down to 5-16. As for Venice, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

IMG Academy Blue will face off against Bradenton Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Venice does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
