Baseball Recap: Kenston Forest Wins Going Away Against South Garner

Kenston Forest had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victor by an 8-1 margin over the South Garner Titans.

Graham Sledd made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.

In other batting news, Jobe Sullivan was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Zane Queen, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

South Garner is on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Kenston Forest will take on Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kenston Forest will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak dating back to last season alive. As for South Garner, they will face off against Garner at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Garner's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so South Garner's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
