Softball Recap: Jacobs Gets the Win

Jacobs took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Dundee-Crown, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Golden Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Chargers 9-7. While the Golden Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-29), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Skylee Ferrante looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Talia Disilvio, who scored a run while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jianna Tanada, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Jacobs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Jacobs' victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 8-6. As for Dundee-Crown, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Jacobs will square off against rival Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Dundee-Crown is set to challenge their familiar foe Prairie Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
