Hutchinson was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Dodge City. The Salt Hawks came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 39 last week.
Derby added to the longest winning streak in Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division I this week by beating Southeast, 76-13. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Panthers.
Mike Jones was a force in the backfield as South beat Central.
JW Maldaner threw for 332 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was 23-49 with 3 interceptions.
Jones was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 295 yards on 30 carries as the Cougars fell to the Cougars. Teammate Justin Stonebraker added to the ground attack by rushing for 80 yards.
6-foot-3 quarterback Maldaner of Central is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,233. He has also thrown 6 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Zach Nachbar. The South star has 26 catches for 648 yards.
Jones of the South is only 28 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 132 carries Jones has accumulated 972 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Haysville Campus takes on South. At the moment, the Colts are in seventh, while the Titans are in third.
Derby took down the Golden Buffalo 76-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.
