Softball Recap: Sacred Heart Academy Comes Up Short

Sacred Heart Academy had lost six straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 3-13 to make it seven. They lost 17-0 to the Foran Lions. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Sacred Heart Academy has suffered against Foran since May 6, 2016.

As for Foran, the win keeps they at an undefeated 18-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.7 runs this season.

For Foran's part, Abigail Corris made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Corris has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Maddie Deldin was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Maya Fallon-Silva was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Coming up, Sacred Heart Academy will face off against Hillhouse at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Foran, they will take on East Haven at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
