Baseball Recap: San Benito Drops Highest Score of Season Against Marine Military Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask San Benito). Everything went their way against the Marine Military Academy Leathernecks on Tuesday as they made off with a 17-3 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Greyhounds needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Gabriel Covarrubias was a standout: he scored a run while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Maurio Arizpe, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

San Benito's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Marine Military Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Benito will head out to challenge Veterans Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Marine Military Academy, they will square off against IDEA Edinburg College Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. IDEA Edinburg College Prep has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.25 runs per game on average), something Marine Military Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of.
