Softball Recap: Western Wildcats vs. Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs
Western proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 11) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs a 2-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since March 11th.
Not much got past Ali Solo, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Cardinal Gibbons off the board. Solo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Western's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Katarina Kuma, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
