Football Game Preview: Stroudsburg Mountaineers vs. Easton Area Rovers

Stroudsburg hasn't had much luck against Easton Area recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mountaineers will look to defend their home field against the Rovers at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Stroudsburg turned things around against Pocono Mountain East on Friday. They secured a 40-34 W over the Cardinals.

Meanwhile, Easton Area humbled Emmaus with a 42-7 victory. That looming 42-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Rovers yet this season.

Stroudsburg better keep an eye on Cole Ordway. He was instrumental in Easton Area's win, rushing for 108 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 162 yards and three TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes. That's the most passing touchdowns Ordway has posted since back in September of 2024. Skyler Fowlin was another key player, picking up 95 receiving yards and one score.

Easton Area didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kurtis Crossman and Sean McPeek. Sean Kilpatrick was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Easton Area's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Stroudsburg, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Stroudsburg was dealt a bruising 42-7 loss at the hands of Easton Area when the teams last played back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Ordway, who threw for 311 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 33 yards and a pair of TDs.
