Basketball Recap: Northside Patriots vs. Russell County Warriors
Northside has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 45-35 to the Russell County Warriors on Saturday. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 57-52.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Russell County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mckenzie Word, who posted 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Word's morning made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Camyra Toney, who had 14 points and seven rebounds.
Northside's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Russell County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-7.
