Basketball Recap: J.H. Rose Gets the Win

J.H. Rose's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 38-37 win over the Havelock Rams. That's more bragging rights for the Rampants, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

J.H. Rose's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kahrin Highsmith led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Alaya Clemons, who posted nine points along with five assists and four steals.

J.H. Rose smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lanai Brantley, who put up 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Timayah Brown, who scored 14 points.

J.H. Rose is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-11 record this season. As for Havelock, they dropped their record down to 4-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

J.H. Rose has already played their next game, a 45-40 victory against Northside - Jacksonville on the 31st. As for Havelock, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 39-30 defeat against D.H. Conley on the 31st.
