Softball Recap: Valparaiso Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Valparaiso entered their tilt with Merrillville on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 17-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Elizabeth Kosek was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Morgan Higgins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Valparaiso was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Valparaiso's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Merrillville, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
