Baseball Recap: Messalonskee Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Messalonskee, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Camden Hills Windjammers on Wednesday as they made off with a 10-4 victory. The Eagles not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 9th (when they won 9-2).

Dennis Martin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Messalonskee's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 4-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Martin was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Michael Achorn was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Achorn, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.

Messalonskee is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Camden Hills, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

As of now, neither Messalonskee nor the Windjammers have any future games scheduled.
