Baseball Game Preview: Oxford Wildcats vs. Romeo Bulldogs

The Oxford Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Romeo Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Oxford fell victim to Utica and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chieftains. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Wildcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Eli Carpenter was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April.

Meanwhile, Romeo won against Adams on Saturday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over Royal Oak. Considering the Bulldogs have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The win made it two in a row for Romeo and bumps their season record up to 19-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Oxford, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-13-1.

Everything went Oxford's way against Romeo in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Oxford made off with a 12-2 win. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
