Football Recap: Thurston Takes Down Ranked Henley

Thurston faced Henley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Colts came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 35-27. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Colts.

Justin Fisher had a dynamite game, rushing for 117 yards, while also picking up 73 receiving yards. He got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 57 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Thurston was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Henley only rushed for 78 rushing yards.

Loss or not, Henley got some senior leadership from Joseph Janney and Jeremiah Brunick. Janney threw for 334 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt, while Brunick picked up 126 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Thurston's record now sits at 3-1. As for Henley, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Thurston will host Roseburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Colts are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Henley, they will head out on the road to face off against Cascade Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Challengers' defense has only allowed 6.2 points per game this season, so the Hornets' offense will have their work cut out for them.
