Softball Recap: Iowa Comes Up Short

After flying high against Acadiana two weeks ago, Iowa came back down to earth. The Yellowjackets came up short against the Sam Houston Broncos on Wednesday, falling 19-12. The defeat continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their meetings with the Broncos: they've now lost eight in a row.

Samantha Davis stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and six RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Darbonne, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Iowa's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Iowa is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Barbe at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sam Houston, they will face off against Calvary Baptist Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
