Baseball Recap: Purchase Line Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Purchase Line ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Penns Manor Comets, sneaking past 9-8. The Red Dragons haven't had any issues with the Comets recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Christian Moyer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Purchase Line's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-10 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Sheredy, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Devlan Kordish, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Purchase Line kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Purchase Line's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Penns Manor, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Purchase Line does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Penns Manor, they will take on Ferndale at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
